Light Final Project

 This project is called "beautiful light." We were supposed to photograph things with lighting that we consider beautiful. I like how my film turned out for this project. Many of the photos are exactly the way I thought they would be.

 This is my cat again. I like the path made by the light behind her and the shadow her head makes on the carpet. I also like the soft quality of the carpet and the texture of her fur.

 I love the gray values in this photo. I took this because I really liked one like it that I printed in the previous project, and I wanted to see if I could get a better one. I think I accomplished that goal because this photo has a lot of depth.

In this photo I really like the way that light reflects off of the pages and the written word, making is seem like the words are coming out of nothing.

5 Senses Project

 This is the five senses project. We were supposed to photograph things that symbolized one of the five senses and then print one photo for each sense.

 This photo is for smell. It symbolizes the smell of spring time and sunshine. I love the gray of the flower against the darker leaves behind it.

 This photo is for sound. It symbolizes the sound of working and a keyboard clicking. I like that the person's nails are painted a dark color, providing contrast against the white keyboard.

 This photo is for sight. It symbolizes the adventures that come from seeing, and specifically from reading. Without sight, many words and stories would remain unknown. I like the contrast of the words and the page, as well as the light reflecting off of the pages.

 This photo is for taste. It's some delicious cantaloupe that my family ate for dinner, served in a dark blue ceramic bowl. I like how shiny the spoon is against the dark bowl and the light color of the fruit. The texture of the wooden table is also interesting.

This photo is for touch. I think it shows the softness of the cat's fur very well, making it seem as though one could reach out and pet her through the photo. The toy and her innocence add to the photo, making it seem more real.

Portrait/Intimacy Project

 I had some trouble taking pictures for this project because most of the places I went were dark and weren't very good for photography. However, enough of them turned out to print this project.

Some of these were taken at school and are pictures of my friends. More of these turned out than ones of my family, and I like them better.

 This is one of my friends. At this time, he was looking at his girlfriend who was resisting my attempts to take a photo of her. I really like the light and dark contrast between his hair and face, as well as the shadows made by his fingers.

 This is my cat. I like the way she isn't looking directly at the camera because it makes it feel like the picture was spontaneous, which it was.

 I really like close up portraits because of the shadows the face creates. The dips in each person's face are unique and interesting, and I like the shadows.

 This is my friend drinking her morning coffee. She posed for me and I couldn't resist taking this because it's not a pose that most girls would want a picture of. I like the shine on her cup.

 This is my mom holding my cat, who was very unhappy about the whole thing. I like the grays and shadows in this photo.

 I like the smile on her face in this photo, as well as the shadows created by being next to a glass door.

This is my cousin. She didn't really want me to take her picture, so I had to do it while she wasn't paying attention. I like the contrast and the creamy quality of her skin.

Landscape Project

 This is my contact sheet for this project. Some of my pictures are a bit light, but there are still some tha I really want to print.

 I really like the reflection off of the pond in this photo. I think it adds to what would otherwise be a boring picture.

 The shadows are the best part of this picture for me. I like the way the shadows of the trees fall across the gravel road.

 I like that this one is a little blurry because it adds a surreal felling to the picture, as if everything were spinning slightly.

 This is my favorite. I love the definition of the leaves and branches of the tree against the lit sky. I also like the smaller plants that are growing around the base of the tree.

In this one I really like the definition of the light colored grass. It looks very sharp against the slightly out of focus trees in the distance.

IR Landscapes: Cows, Pond scum, and Gravel path

I think it's funny that the cows look exactly the same in both pictures, like they wouldn't care at all if the grass suddenly turned pink.

 I think the reflection in the pond is really interesting in this photo because it isn't very clear in the green one, but the pink shows up much better.

I like the angle of the shadow from the railing in this one, and the way the bushes are coming through the wire.

IR Landscapes: Backyard garden

I think it's interesting that any bushes that started out red were changed to green.

IR Landscapes:Trees in a field

These are from our infrared landscape project. The thing I like the most about this picture is the focus on the texture of the grass.

Tattoo, Girl sits with boy, child plays

 When I took this picture, I actually approached someone and asked if I could take a picture of their ink. He was extremely nice and even told me about another street photographer I should look up. My favorite tattoo is the animal wearing the hat. I think it's a duck, and I like how it looks like the beak has run into his shirt.

 When I took this, the girl glared at me as soon as she heard the shutter click. The boy, on the other hand, didn't seem to care that much. I like that I caught her in the middle of sitting down because it adds the feeling that she is returning to him after walking away.

This was an adorable little girl that was playing on a ledge while her mother watched. She was so cute that I just had to take a picture. Unfortunately, the negative wasn't very good. I do like that her mother is not all in the photo, because it shows the mindlessness of children and the way they can ignore their parents.

People waiting for the bus

I like that there are so many people waiting for the bus. but only one bike.

Woman Walking

I really like the contrast in this picture between the woman and the walkway.

Architecture

I really like the focus of the stair railing in this photo. A lot of time, when I'm talking pictures on the stairs, I'm focusing on one of my cats. During this photo they kept trying to get on the stairs, and I had to move them.

This is porch lights seen through a large window above the front door. I like the symmetry with the squares and the two lights.

I've always like the patters of the rafters in this church. I love looking up at them when I'm there because they fascinate me. I also tried to get the window, but it was too light outside. My grandfather made it out of stained glass.

This is inside the same building as the rafters of the previous picture. However, this one was meant to focus more on the rectangular windows and their contrast with the angled interior of the building.

Here are my architecture pictures. The last two were larger prints, so the last one is the same as one of the earlier ones. I like the big one because it shows the rafters in better detail.

More Tilt Shift

Here are two more tilt shift photos. I had a little trouble getting the right angle to take them, but I think they turned out all right in the end. I like the bottom one because it looks more like a toy than a real building.

Mosaic 3

This is my cat, Princess, sitting on the couch. She kept moving, but I like the different angles that created.

This is a mosaic of a quilt hanging in the hallway of my house. It's rectangular, and I really like the way it looks curved.
